Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the installation of our brand new turf has experienced a slight delay and it will now not be ready for play until Friday. This means that, sadly, there will be 𝐧𝐨 𝐊𝐰𝐢𝐤 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 this Wednesday night as originally scheduled.
The team on site have been working incredibly hard to deliver what will be an amazing new playing surface for Mid Canterbury Hockey and we know it will absolutely be worth the wait. The countdown is well and truly on now! ⏳🙌
The good news is that Kiwi Sticks on Friday, Mini Sticks & Fun Sticks on Saturday will still go ahead as planned, and we look forward to seeing all of our youngest hockey stars out enjoying their hockey this week.
Thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support throughout this exciting project. We cannot wait to officially open and share our new turf with you all very soon! 🎊🎉
On Saturday night we had the privilege of attending the Mid Canterbury Sports Awards 2026, where our own Hugh Copland was named a finalist in the Coach of the Year category.
While Hugh may not have taken home the award, it was an honor to celebrate alongside so many outstanding athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers from across our region.
Mid Canterbury Hockey would like to congratulate all the finalists and winners, and extend our thanks to Sport Canterbury - Mid Canterbury for hosting such a fantastic event 💛💚
Mid Canterbury Hockey are proud to announce our 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏 𝐌𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 competing in the Canterbury Hockey Association competition in Christchurch this season!
The lads have started their campaign in outstanding fashion, going 2 from 2 with impressive wins over Marist (1-0) and Harewood (3-0). A fantastic start that reflects the hard work, commitment, and determination this group has put in both on and off the turf.
Congratulations team, and all the best for the season ahead!

MCH is proud to announce our 𝐌𝐢𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬 team who will be competing in the Platinum League of the Canterbury Hockey Competition this season.
This is a hugely exciting milestone as it is the first Year 9/10 team we have entered into this competition. It marks an important step forward in creating strong development pathways for our young players from Ashburton College, Mt Hutt College, and Ashburton Christian School and providing valuable opportunities to compete at a higher level.
The team have their first game this Sunday, 11am at Nga Puna Wai vs Southern United Sabers.
We are incredibly proud of these boys and wish them all the very best for the season ahead. We know they will represent their schools and Mid Canterbury with pride, passion, and determination.
Go well boys!
