🏑 Kwik sticks to play on Wednesday as usual.

Last Thursday evening, the Mid Canterbury Men’s and Women’s team that play in the CHA Division 1 Competition in Christchurch hosted President Chris Watson and the Sponsors of the new team playing kits. The teams are grateful to have a uniform that differs from the representative kit and is secured for the next three years due to very generous sponsorship. The sponsors are well known to the people of Mid Canterbury and their representatives are either current or former members of the Men’s team. It was great to be able to present them with their own shirt as a thank you for their generosity.
Pictured here are the sponsors: @cleaverscorner (Andy Moore and Harley!), @cochranesnz (Jeremy Moore), @electraserve (Mitch Moore) and @grayengineeringsolutions (Hayden Bonnington).
Please support those who support us when you can. – they are long time supporters of Mid Canterbury Hockey.

Mid Canterbury Hockey would like to wish you all a safe and happy Easter, and we look forward to seeing you all next weekend 🐰🐰🐰

Here we have Harrison Doak, Lewis Tavendale and Toby Grant (who were all on debut) with the CHA Division 1 Mens Challenge Shield which the Mid Canterbury team secured with their win last week. The MC men managed to retain the shield this past weekend, here is a run down of both games 🛡
𝟏𝟐 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐯 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐍𝐠𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐢 𝟏 𝐚𝐭 𝟐𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟒:𝟎𝟎𝐩𝐦.
This week the MC Men were up first, and with late illness and other commitments, fielding a full squad of 16 wasn't to be. That said, the squad that were available dug in and played thoughtful hockey and were in control early. By the end of the first quarter, they were up 2-0 after a brace from Toby Grant, first with a well executed drag at a PC, then a field goal five minutes later. At half time they were well in control having added two more via field goals to Lewis Tavendale and TJ Duncan. The team continued to control the game and a PC to Scott Marshall sealed University's fate with a 5-0 win to MC.
The late game for the Women didn't quite go as well, and although five goals were scored in the match, only one went the way of the MC Women. Uni had two goals in the first quarter and one in each of the second and third spells before MC pegged one back via an Anna Gray field goal that was well constructed and showed what the team is capable of when putting it all in place. Plenty to ponder going into the Easter break before resuming against Rangiora in two weeks time.
